摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent device wherein a frame portion can be reduced while preventing damage to a gas barrier layer, to provide a manufacturing method thereof, and to provide an electronic apparatus. SOLUTION: In the organic electroluminescent device 1 in which an element substrate 20A having a plurality of light-emitting elements 21 each formed by holding an organic luminescent layer 12 between a pair of electrodes 10, 11, a sealing substrate 31 disposed in opposition with the element substrate 20A, a peripheral sealing layer 33 to fix the element substrate 20A and the sealing substrate 31 to the peripheral part between the element substrate 20A and the sealing substrate 31 are provided, an electrode protecting layer 17 to coat barrier ribs 13 and the light-emitting elements 21, an organic buffer layer 18 to coat the electrode protecting layer 17, and a gas barrier layer 19 to coat the organic buffer layer 18 are formed. In addition, the gas barrier layer 19 is formed more wide than the organic buffer layer 18, the peripheral sealing layer 33 is provided in the upper layer of the gas barrier layer 19, and the peripheral end part of the organic buffer layer 18 is disposed within the width of the peripheral sealing layer 33.
