PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To narrow an irradiation angle of a point light source within a range where irregularity in light quantity on a reading line does not exceed a prescribed threshold, thereby reducing irregular color while suppressing the irregularity in light quantity. SOLUTION: A mask member 71 having a window part 72 corresponding to an LED element L is put on a light source 12. By narrowing the irradiation angleθof the LED element L by a window part 12, change of color on the reading line is lessened. In such a case, if the irradiation angleθis too small, the irregularity in light quantity is caused in a main scanning direction on the reading line Ln, so that the irradiation angleθis narrowed so as to make the irregularity in light quantity within a range of the prescribed threshold.
