PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring tire shape which is advantageous to measure the shape of a groove of a tread with the tread pattern of a tire deformed. SOLUTION: A specific pattern 50 is formed along a surface 202 of the groove 2c of the tread 2A, in advance. An outer peripheral surface 2B of the tread 2A is brought into contact with a first surface 14A of a plate-shaped plate member 14 formed of a transparent material. First and second image data D1, D2 obtained by photographing the specific pattern 50 via the plate member 14 by first and second photographic devices 18A, 18B from a second surface 14B, which is positioned opposite the first surface 14A, are subjected to arithmetic processing, thereby the three-dimensional shape of the specific pattern 50 and measuring the shape and/or surface strain of the groove 2C are obtained.
