The invention relates to a protective cover for pipes and cables, having a tubular configuration with a longitudinal opening, the longitudinal edges (11) of which are stacked on top of one another, said cover being formed by a three-dimensional warp knitted fabric (2) produced in a double needle bed machine. The aforementioned fabric (2) comprises: a firmer outer structure or layer (21), an inner structure or layer (22) and an intermediate structure or layer (23) having a thickness of between 5 and 65 mm, which intermediate layer has a lower thread count than the outer (21) and inner (22) structures and forms an intermediate space or chamber providing thermal and acoustic insulation between the inner (22) and outer (21) structures of the fabric (2).
