<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly set a threshold as a determination reference for detecting a pattern image by reflecting the success/failure of the decryption of code information for a detected pattern image. <P>SOLUTION: A detection part 211 scans an image by the frame of an image picked up by an imaging part, and calculates a difference between the pixel values of specific pixels or a fixed region including the pixels and the other section of the image, and compares the obtained difference with a prescribed threshold, and detects a unit image. On the basis of the unit image detected by the detection part 211, the information encoded and recorded by the unit image is decrypted.
