PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blood vessel position indicator and its method to disclose the blood vessel parts hidden behind skin wrinkles. SOLUTION: A blood vessel position indicator 100 is provided with a blood vessel region extractor 102, a wrinkle region extractor 103, and a blood vessel region decider 104. The blood vessel region extractor 102 extracts a candidate blood vessel region where its pixels are lower in luminance value than the ambient pixels on a near infrared radiation image. The wrinkle region extractor 103 extracts a wrinkle region included in the candidate blood region on the basis of a wrinkle detection pattern showing a wrinkle region form. The blood region decider 104 decides two regions as a blood vessel region, i.e., a region obtained by swelling the pixels located on the border between the candidate blood vessel region and the wrinkle region in the direction of blood vessels under the wrinkle region, and the candidate blood region excluding the wrinkle region.
