PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a needle bar rocking mechanism for sewing machine which can suppress the increase of costs without having a complicated constitution, develop no shaking, and perform zigzag sewing at a high speed and at a good accuracy. SOLUTION: This needle bar rocking mechanism for sewing machine has a needle bar 21, a needle bar arm 22, a link 7, a motor 8, an urging member 24, and an auxiliary urging member 9. In this case, the needle bar arm 22 holds the needle bar 21 in a manner to be vertically movable. One end of the link 7 is held by the needle bar arm 22. The motor 8 is connected with the other end of the link 7 and rocks the needle bar 21 in the lateral direction through the link 7. The urging member 24 urges the needle bar arm 22 and the link 7 in one direction of the lateral direction in which the needle bar 21 rocks. The auxiliary urging member 9 urges the needle bar arm 22 and the link 7 in the other direction being counter to the urging force by the urging member 24. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
