PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a unit, method and control program for optimizing collation parameters, for self-learning to fit to an environment, thereby for optimizing a variety of collation parameters without relying on an expert. SOLUTION: When an initial parameter group is generated, a fingerprint data is read in and the parameters are applied to a collation unit (step S223). When a collation result is obtained, a degree of adaptation is calculated by use of an evaluation function (step S225). After parameters are modified by means of the genetic algorithm (steps S227-S229), the above modification is repeated by the maximum number of generations, so as to evolve and optimize the parameter group. Using the above process as one stage, it may be possible to evolve the parameters by repeating the process for a few stages. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
