The device has two sources of light (16,18) for radiant emittance of light bundles (20,22) toward the course material (14). Each light bundle has light of wavelength transmitted to the course material. The sources of light are arranged on a side of the course material and are aligned in such a manner that light bundles cross the course material and form an angle with one another. An independent claim is included for a method for regulation of depth of an error in course material moving relative to a camera.
