<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcast receiver which reduces delay of a channel switching time that may occur in channel switching. <P>SOLUTION: Before an audio receiving buffer becomes a steady state (stable state), decoding of audio data is started. Until the receiving buffer becomes the steady state, audio is delayed under rate control, thereby attaining high-speed channel switching.
