PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plate-shaped ceramic member that can have a higher degree of flexibility in design than allowed by conventional technologies.

SOLUTION: A plate-shaped ceramic member 15, which converts the wavelength of light emitted from a semiconductor light-emitting device, is formed of two or more types of ceramic materials, and is partitioned into multiple blocks 15a and 15b. Each block is formed of one selected from two or more types of ceramic materials. At least one of two or more types of ceramic materials contains a wavelength conversion material that converts the wavelength of light.
