PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-pollution type composition for metal surface treatment capable of obtaining a film having rust prevention force equal to that of the conventional chromatizing agent and phosphatizing agent, and also having alkali resistance, workability, corrosion resistance, top coat applicability or the like, and to provide a surface treated metallic material using the composition for metal surface treatment. SOLUTION: Disclosed is a composition for metal surface treatment comprising: (A) peroxo vanadic acid; (B) a titanium compound and/or a zirconium compound; and, if required, (C) a water soluble or water dispersible resin.
