<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively raise temperature of a catalyst to an optimal temperature range and to appropriately prevent temperature of the catalyst from reaching deterioration temperature. <P>SOLUTION: An exhaust emission control device for the internal combustion engine is used for purifying exhaust gas from the internal combustion engine. A first heat transport means is provided in an exhaust gas passage at an upstream side of the catalyst, is constructed to operate in a high temperature zone, collects heat of exhaust gas and transports the same to a heat accumulator. A second heat transport means is provided in a catalyst, is constructed to operated from a lower temperature zone than the temperature zone in which the first heat transport means operates, and transports heat accumulated in the heat accumulator to the catalyst. Consequently, the catalyst 7 can be appropriately maintained at temperature in the optimal temperature range not higher than deterioration temperature. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
