PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute garbage collection at timing suitable to operate a database system when the upper limit of the number of pieces of registered data is determined by sharing the number of pieces of the registered data by a plurality of types of managing files in a portable communication apparatus represented by a portable telephone. SOLUTION: A managing file (table) of data records being data management information is provided for each type of contents of a plurality of pieces of data, and a control means is provided, which executes garbage collection for the whole tables when the total number of empty pages through the whole tables of empty pages where the whole data records recorded in a page are eliminated exceeds the prescribed number of pages in recording one or more data records with each table as a recording area (page) unit of a prescribed size.
