PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel property detection device for an internal combustion engine capable of maintaining detection accuracy of fuel properties and detecting abnormality occurring on a fuel property sensor. SOLUTION: During execution of air-fuel ratio feed back control based on output of an A/F sensor 17 after completion of warming up of the internal combustion engine 1, properties of fuel of which properties have been already known is detected by the fuel property sensor 100, and output error of the fuel property sensor 100 is corrected based on comparison between the detected fuel properties and the known fuel properties.
