摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently regenerate an EGR catalyst while preventing the EGR catalyst from being damaged in an exhaust emission control system of an internal combustion engine for eliminating emission of NOx or the like. <P>SOLUTION: An exhaust emission control system (100) cleans an exhaust in an internal combustion engine (10) which includes an EGR passage (31) for refluxing the exhaust from an exhaust system to an intake system and can change an air-fuel ratio with respect to an intake. The exhaust emission control system (100) includes: the EGR catalyst (32) disposed in the EGR passage for purifying the refluxed exhaust; and a regeneration combustion control means (40) for controlling the internal combustion engine such that a regenerative combustion is performed in the EGR catalyst each time a series of rich combustion with an enriched air-fuel ratio is performed once or a plurality of times. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
