PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To regulate a variable power rate along a main scanning direction in a position of the sub-scanning direction, so as to form an image. SOLUTION: A color copying machine 100 has: a signal generating part 37 for generating a clock signal concerned in main-scanning-directional image formation; an image forming part 60 having a writing unit 3 for forming the image along the main scanning direction synchronized with the clock signal generated by the signal generating part 37; and an operation panel 48 for setting a main-scanning-directional magnification of the image, while correlated with the position of the sub-scanning direction, when forming the image on a paper sheet. The clock signal of a frequency in response to the position of the sub-scanning direction is generated based on the magnification set by the operation panel 48, when forming the image by the image forming part 60, under control of a control part 15.
