PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup apparatus for producing a suitable reconstruction image when capturing image pickup data so as to include information about a light advancing direction. SOLUTION: In a micro lens array 12, a pitch p12 of each micro lens 12-1 meets a predetermined formula. In image pickup data D0 captured by an image pickup element 13, image height deviation on a photodetection plane of the image pickup element 13 is avoided. Furthermore, an image height correction unit 149 may correct image height of image pickup data D1 so that the size of an image (unit image), in one side direction, formed on the image pickup element 13 in accordance with the micro lens 12-1 become an integer multiple of a pixel size (s) of a pixel P in one side direction.
