PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent malfunction of DAC30 when discrepant signals S1 and S2 are output from ADC10 at a conversion stage constituting a pipeline type ADC. SOLUTION: When logically discrepant set of signals S1 and S2 (for example, S1="H", S2="L") are output from comparators 11 and 12 which compare an input voltage VI with a reference voltage±REF/4, an encoder 20A assumes them as a normal set of signals (S1="L", S2="H") and generates signals X, Y, Z for controlling switches 31-33 of the DAC30. So, there is no possibility that both switches 31 and 32 turn on at the same time, thereby preventing malfunction of the DAC30. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
