PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide grinding machine and grinding method allowing reduction of size and cost to form a male screw by grinding a screw groove on an outer peripheral surface. SOLUTION: This grinding machine is provided with main spindle devices 20 and 30 for holding a cylindrical or columnar workpiece 100 to be rotatable around a spindle and a grinding wheel 43 arranged to be relatively movable in Z-axis direction and X-axis direction in relation to the main spindle devices 20 and 30 and rotatable around a center shaft, to form the male screw 100 by grinding the screw groove 101 on the outer peripheral surface of the workpiece 100 by the rotated grinding wheel 43. The screw groove 101 of the male screw 100 is ground by setting an inclination angleΣof the center shaft of the grinding wheel 43 in relation to a screw shaft 102 of the male screw 100 to be an angle different from a lead angleγof the male screw 100.
