<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle environment recognizing system capable of recognizing the circumferential environment of one's own vehicle by effectively performing stereo matching processing even under the environment where the balance of brightness is lost in a pair of cameras. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicle environment recognizing system 1 includes: a stereo imaging means 2 for imaging the circumferential environment of the own vehicle A and outputting a reference image T<SB>O</SB>and a comparative image T<SB>c</SB>; a first stereo matching means 7a for forming a first distance image T<SB>Z</SB>1, based on the reference image T<SB>O</SB>and the comparative image T<SB>c</SB>or two images obtained by preprocessing the reference image T<SB>O</SB>etc.; a second stereo matching means 7b for forming the second distance image T<SB>Z</SB>2, based on two images obtained by preprocessing the reference image T<SB>O</SB>etc. in a different manner; a detecting means 11 for respectively detecting an object in the reference image T<SB>O</SB>, based on the first and second distance images T<SB>Z</SB>1 and T<SB>Z</SB>2; and a selecting means 12 for selection in adoption of any one among the detection results of the object, based on the first and second distance images TZ1, TZ2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
