<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To receive present and past subtitles simultaneously. <P>SOLUTION: Present subtitles which are synchronized to a program obtained by decoding a video signal extracted from a received broadcast signal as it is displayed on a present screen 41A of a display part 16. Meanwhile, the past subtitles displayed earlier by a prescribed time than the present video and subtitles displayed on the present screen 41A are displayed on a past screen 41B.
