PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a method of distributing/starting an OS via a network without constructing a special network card, a DHCP server, or a TFTP server.
SOLUTION: A virtual machine monitor is installed in a user terminal mounted with a normal network card, and an OS for management is started. On the OS for management, a remote storage server is accessed using an iSCSI protocol, and a volume placed on the server is mounted. The OS is booted via the network by mapping the mounted volume on a virtual disk device and booting from the disc. With this system, the OS can be distributed/started via the network without using a special network card. Furthermore, network boot type thin client can be achieved by combining a write-in control to an external medium and a print control without using a special network card.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
|
