PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent sudden disappearance of a function screen during display in a power saving mode which is caused by executing auto clearance prior to transfer to a preheat mode. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes an auto clearance execution means which changes a display screen to a state in which job setting is default set after the lapse of a predetermined time from completion of image forming operation or completion of operation; an auto power-saving mode shifting means which erases the display after the lapse of a second predetermined time and shifts the screen to a power saving mode; a predetermined time setting means which sets the time; a storage means which stores predetermined times; and a predetermined time setting restriction means which controls, when a first predetermined time is larger than a value obtained by subtracting a third predetermined time from the second predetermined time, the auto power saving mode shifting means to perform execution processing after the lapse of the third predetermined time from the first predetermined time.
