PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a computer-generated synthetic hologram easily observed and having excellent security property, a computer-generated synthetic hologram prepared by the method, a method for preparing a volume hologram using it, and a volume hologram prepared by the method. SOLUTION: In the computer-generated synthetic hologram 1, amplitude information and phase information are recorded on a predetermined recording surface by operation using a computer. The computer-generated synthetic hologram 1 is recorded using object light spread in only predetermined one directional direction from a light source set on a recording object O, and has unit areas B1, B2, B3, ..., Bm, ... BM having a predetermined width in the direction orthogonal to one dimensional direction, and the widths of the unit areas B1, B2, B3, ..., Bm, ...
