PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular periphery monitoring device capable of effectively giving information about an object around one's own vehicle to a driver of the own vehicle during low speed traveling. SOLUTION: In the vehicular periphery monitoring device 10 equipped with distance measurement parts 24a-24d having narrower monitoring angles as longer the monitoring distance is, a detection region varying part 18 makes the monitoring angles of the distance measurement parts 24a-24d to be wider in a gazing direction of the driver D detected by a gazing direction determining part 16 when the vehicle speed of the own vehicle detected by a vehicle speed detection part 17 is equal to or lower than the threshold than when the vehicle speed of the own vehicle exceeds the threshold, and thereby, during low speed traveling such as parking, a wider monitoring angle can be achieved in the corner of a bumper or the periphery of wheels at which the driver D gazes, and the driver D can know whether the bumper or the wheels are abutted to a wall or the like as the whole or not, and thus, the information regarding the objects around the own vehicle can be effectively given to the driver D of the own vehicle during low speed traveling.
