<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing Cryptosporidium which is a pathogenic microbe causing zoonotic infection and present in water used for washing a livestock barn/poultry house and wastewater from a pasture, which are discharged from a cattle farm. <P>SOLUTION: In the method, the water used for washing the livestock barn/poultry house and the wastewater from the pasture, which are discharged from the cattle farm, are passed through a conventional precipitation-separation tank to remove foreign substances, and then transported by a raw water pump to an alkali contact tank, where calcium hydroxide or calcium oxide is added in an amount of 0.1-0.3% based on the water and is dissolved by stirring. Then, after standing for 10-120 minutes, the supernatant is transported to a calcium carbonate forming tank, where carbon dioxide gas is blown into the solution until the solution pH reaches 7.0-8.6 to neutralize the solution and form calcium carbonate. Since Cryptosporidium is adsorbed on calcium carbonate and precipitated during this step, the supernatant is released after standing for 10-120 minutes. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
