OPTICAL AMPLIFIER, AND CONTROL METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fix power-wavelength characteristics of Raman-amplified optical signal with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: A Raman amplifier 110 inputs respective excitation lights with a plurality of wavelengths to a transmission line 101 which an optical signal passes and Raman-amplifies the optical signal. A plurality of measurement parts 120, 130 respectively measure respective powers of a plurality of bands included in an amplification band of the Raman amplifier 110 in light output from the Raman amplifier 110. A calculation part 140 calculates a ratio of respective powers measured by the plurality of measurement parts 120, 130. A control part 150 controls the power ratio of respective excitation lights to be input from the Raman amplifier 110 to the transmission line 101 based on the ratio calculated by the calculation part 140.
