<p>A variable magnification optical system (ZL) is provided in order from the object side with a first lens group (G1) with a positive refractive power, a second lens group (G2) with a negative refractive power, a third lens group (G3) with a positive refractive power, a fourth lens group (G4), and a fifth lens group (G5) with a positive refractive power. The variable magnification optical system is configured to satisfy the following equations: 2.49<¦f4¦/f5<4.69, and -0.10<ß5w<0.085 where f4 is a focal distance of the fourth lens group, f5 is a focal distance of the fifth lens group, and ß5w is a lateral magnification in the wide-angle end state of the fifth lens group.</p> |
