The method involves straight-lined separating remaining threads by a dry ice jet, and separately removing the threads, where the dry ice jet is provided transverse to a storage direction of the thread during transportation of spools (5) polluted with the threads along a dry ice jet nozzle (2) such that the threads are pneumatically removed, sucked and transported by a suction device (3) from the spools. The spools are removed after removing the remaining threads, where the nozzle, suction device and a transport device (1) are connected with each other by sensors for time interval adjustment. An independent claim is also included for a device for removing remaining threads at spools.
