<p>A novel PdCr alloy layer(Cr%=15 to 60%) is incorporated in between a fcc seed layer and a Ru#2 layer. In this case, a Ru#1 layer, which is incorporated in between the fcc seed layer and the Ru#2 layer in conventional media, is completely eliminated and only a thin Ru#2 (5-10 nm) is deposited on top of the PdCr alloy layer. The grain size control and Ru(0002) is achieved using this thin Ru#2 layer. CoPt based granular layer is deposited directly on top of the Ru#2 layer. In order to maintain a high coercivity like Ru#1/Ru#2 IML(intermediate layer), only a thin Ru#2 IML of 6 nm is sufficient when deposited on the PdCr(3-10nm) alloy layer.</p> |
