<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus accurately detecting tilting of a recording head, and thereby reducing deterioration in image quality. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a carriage 23 on which a recording head 24 having a nozzle array with a plurality of nozzles for ejecting droplets arrayed therein, and which is scanned in a direction perpendicular to the nozzle arraying direction; a conveying belt 31 that conveys a paper while facing the recording head 24; a means 501 for forming a printing pattern 400 on the conveying belt 31 by ejecting droplets from the nozzles located at least at both ends of the nozzle array of the recording head 24 in a state where the carriage 23 is stopped; a reading means 401 for reading the printing pattern 400 formed on the conveying belt 31; and a means 503 for measuring printing positions in the direction perpendicular to the nozzle arraying direction in a plurality of areas of the printing pattern 400 in the nozzle arraying direction, based on the reading result obtained by the reading means 401, and then, detecting the tilting of the recording head 24, based on the result obtained by measuring the printing positions. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
