<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the operability of the manipulation using an input unit made inclinable as desired. <P>SOLUTION: A game apparatus stores boundary angle data representing boundary angles equivalent to the angles of inclination of the input unit when an input value takes a boundary value in a prescribed range. The game apparatus acquires data which have their values varying according to the angle of inclination of the input unit from the input unit and calculates the angle of inclination of the input unit. Then, when the angle of inclination calculated at the inclination calculation step exceeds the boundary angle given by the boundary angle data, the boundary angle data is updated to let the calculated angle of inclination be a new boundary angle.
