The invention relates to a method for monitoring an electrical power transmission line (40), wherein, according to the method, voltage and current are measured at one end of the power transmission line by a distance protection device (20), forming first measured voltage and current values, and, using the first measured voltage and current values and a prescribed line impedance value related to the line impedance of the power transmission line by amount and/or phase, the power transmission line is monitored and in case of a fault in the power transmission line a fault signal is generated, according to the invention, voltage and current are measured by a further device connected at the other end of the power transmission line, forming second voltage and current values, the line impedance of the power transmission line is calculated using the first and second voltage and current values and a measured line impedance value is formed, and the measured line impedance value is considered in the further monitoring of the power transmission line. |
