<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell wherein the moisture distribution in an in-plane direction of a polymer electrolyte is made uniform and oxidization gas can be efficiently supplied to an air electrode catalyst layer. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell includes a membrane-electrode assembly having a polymer electrolyte membrane and a pair of catalyst electrodes pinching the polymer electrolyte membrane, and a separator having a gas flow channel for supplying fuel gas or oxidization gas to the membrane-electrode assembly. The gas flow channel is a reciprocating flow channel formed in a meandering or spiral shape, an upstream flow channel of the gas flow channel is adjacent to a downstream flow channel of the gas flow channel, a gas flow flowing in the outward channel containing the upstream flow channel is opposed to a gas flow flowing in the return channel containing the downstream flow channel, a wall of the gas flow channel does not have permeability of the fuel gas or oxidization gas, and an interval between the upstream flow channel of the gas flow channel and the downstream flow channel adjoining and flowing in opposition is larger than an interval between the outward channel and the return channel at a folded part of the outward and return channels. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
