PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently separating and extracting proteoglycan from cartilage tissues in the head part of fish caught in large quantities, in particular salmon and trout, which are fished in the north sea and their residues after processing are discarded, and to provide a method for obtaining a proteoglycan composition having very little malodor and applicable to wide-ranging uses.
SOLUTION: The method for extracting proteoglycan comprises the following processes (A)-(E), and the proteoglycan composition is obtained by this method. In the process (A), frozen aquatic animal tissues are crushed and treated at specific temperature and pH after adding water. In the process (B), a solid-liquid mixture obtained by the process (A) is centrifuged to remove a lipid layer in the top and an aqueous layer in the middle level, and the sediment is collected. In the process (C), the sediment is dried and pulverized to powder. In the process (D), a specific solvent is added to the obtained dried powder for extracting and removing residual lipid. In the process (E), the solvent is removed. The proteoglycan composition obtained by this method has no malodor, so that it can be suitable for use in the field of foods in particular.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
