PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic element, the clearance of which between a drum core and a sleeve core is constant and the DC superposition characteristics of which have been improved, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: A magnetic element 1 to be mounted on a substrate includes: a drum core 10 having two flange parts 3 and a winding part 2 surrounded by the two flange parts 3 and around which, a winding 4 wound; and a sleeve core 20 having an inner wall 21 in opposition to at least part of the flange parts 3, wherein in at least one of the flange parts 3 and the inner wall 21, two or more grooves 22 into which the projection part of a jig can be inserted are formed in the direction in which the winding part 2 is erected.
