The method involves bridging distance between massive carrier constructions by a connection cable, and supporting a supporting structure (7) by a cross beam (8), and supporting the supporting structure by a safety rope and a base plate. The supporting structure is provided with perpendicular parts in or on the base plate. An external projection (17) is fastened by the safety rope and is guided to a base and to a holder (10) at the base plate. The structure and the cross beam are provided on both sides of water channels (1). The rope is mounted and fixed in boreholes of a pivoting structure. An independent claim is also included for a system for projecting a water channel.
