Sparkplug comprising at least one electrode with an ellipsoidal or, alternatively, elliptical, tip. Sparkplug (1) for a controlled-ignition internal combustion engine, of which at least one electrode (5) or (6) has a tip of a geometric shape that corresponds to the vertex of the major axis of an ellipsoid, or to the vertex of the major axis of an ellipse. The great spatio-temporal stability of the electrical arc derived from this is most particularly intended for vehicles that have ignition with overall engine management.
