<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further reduce size of a spatial optical communication device by excluding a mechanical movable portion when tracking a light beam sent from a communication partner. <P>SOLUTION: When a lens system is used to receive a light beam sent from a distant communication partner, a beam splitter is used to split the light beam into two. On a focal plane where one split light beam is converged, an area sensor is used to detect the light beam. Successively, it is detected which photodetector of the area sensor photodetects the light beam, and the laser of a laser array having a layout coordinate made to correspond to the layout coordinate of the photodetector is selected as a laser to transmit a light beam toward the communication partner. Then, the laser is used to generate a light beam to be transmitted toward the communication partner, so that, on a focal plane where the split other light beam is to be converged, the laser array is used to generate the light beam to be transmitted toward the communication partner. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
