<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a marking apparatus and a marking method in which marking of a two-dimensional code with a high recognition rate can be performed using an inexpensive device. <P>SOLUTION: The marking apparatus 1 is composed of a plurality of fiber laser modules 2, a connector 6, a plurality of optical fibers 12, a moving device 14 and a control means 15. The fiber laser modules 2 are in the number of individual pieces of either one-dimensional cell Ca of the two-dimensional code C. The light emitting end 10a of the optical fibers 12 is arrayed in that one-dimensional direction. The moving device 14 moves a workpiece W in an orthogonal direction MD to the rows of the light emitting end 10a of the optical fibers 12.
