PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile terminal adapter using one mobile terminal for both an incoming call function and an extension function, and capable of attaining the expansion function over a wide range. SOLUTION: This mobile terminal adapter carries out local extension communication via a private wireless LAN in conjunction with a mobile terminal, by forming the private wireless LAN connectable to an IP-PBX, together with a plurality of base stations. The mobile terminal adapter includes: an extension communication control part providing a function for carrying out extension communication as an extension telephone, in conjunction with its own mobile terminal adapter to the mobile terminal, and controlling the extension communication function as an extension telephone; a security function part authenticating connection to the own mobile terminal adapter from the mobile terminal, and encrypting information in the own mobile terminal adapter; an adapter memory part storing information and software relating to the extension communication as the extension telephone; a wireless LAN control part controlling wireless communication with the base station; and a power source part which is a power source for driving the own mobile terminal adapter; and is directly connected to the mobile terminal.
