PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear capable of improving the meshing ratio of a gear train, and a coupling device using this gear. SOLUTION: A meshing line Tr of an internal gear 11 and an external gear 21 for constituting a reclining device 4 arranged in a state of mutually meshing so that motive power can be transmitted, is formed as a line of crossing with a curve (an effective addendum circle 21h) positioned outside in the radial direction by extending in the circumferential direction on the expanding side of an interval between these two curves, from above a curve (an effective addendum circle 11h) positioned inside in the radial direction, among the two curves (the effective addendum circle 11h of the internal gear 11 and the effective addendum circle 21h of the external gear 21) for determining the meshing area.
