Class 75(4) A street lighting fitting for use with tubular fluorescent lamps comprises a hollow body part 4 open at opposite sides and adapted for mounting on a support e.g. by means of a spigot 4a, a detachable cover 5 closing one side of the body part, an arm 7 extending from the opposite side and having guides on which a reflector 8 can slide, lamp holders 9 carried by the reflector, and an envelope 12 at least partly transparent or translucent which slides on the arm 7, the open end of the envelope engaging the body part 4 and being held in engagement therewith e.g. by means of spring catches 14. The arm 7 may consist of parallel metal strips having their lower edges turned outwards to form the guides for the reflector and their upper edges turned inwards to engage the outwardly turned edges of a strip on the upper part of the envelope. The reflector carries the operating gear 11 for the lamps and is held in place by screws 18 engaging holes in the body part 4. |
