<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a load acted on an occupant as reaction force of a compressed load added on an airbag case. <P>SOLUTION: The air bag device includes at least the airbag case 1 storing an airbag 2 and mounting an inflator 3 which supplies gas into the stored airbag 2. The airbag case 1 is divided into an upper case 1a equipped with an opening 1aa into which the airbag 2 is inserted, and provided with engaging hooks 1ab to an instrument panel on both sides of one side of the opening 1aa; and a lower case 1b equipped with a mounting portion of the inflator 3. A coupling portion 1c connecting the upper case 1a and the lower case 1b is constituted to have strength which can resist a tensile load upon the deployment of the airbag, and release or absorb the compressed load due to the collision of the occupant. The coupling portion between the upper case and the lower case which has the strength capable of resisting the tensile load acting upon the deployment of the airbag is broken or deformed to reduce the load acting on the occupant. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
