PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which prevents a consequent decrease of a printing speed even when a data read-out speed of a connected detachable storage device is low. SOLUTION: When printing data of a printing object is stored in a first detachable HDD 33, and if data feeding is late for printing at a maximum printing speed because the data read-out speed of the first detachable HDD 33 is low, the printing data is shifted from the first detachable HDD 33 to a built-in high-speed first fixed HDD 31 (P6). Thereafter, the printing data is supplied from the first fixed HDD 31 to a printing part 12 (P7) and printed.
