PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet textile printing apparatus enabling flat adhesion of a cloth by uniformly dispersing air bubbles to prevent floating of the cloth caused by entry of the air bubbles between a carrying belt and the cloth, so as to achieve printing with high image quality, when the cloth is adhered on the carrying belt with an adhesive surface and is carried to the lower side of a printing section. SOLUTION: The ink jet textile printing apparatus includes the printing section performing printing on a recording medium by discharging ink from a recording head, the carrying belt having the adhesive surface, and a recording medium floating preventing means disposed on an upstream side of the printing section. The recording medium floating preventing means includes a free roller which is placed on the recording medium adhered on and supported by the carrying belt and is configured to be movable in the carrying direction of the carrying belt and in a direction opposite to the carrying direction.
