PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an amplifying device and a sound processing device using the amplifying device which can realize an adequate automatic gain control with a simple circuit. SOLUTION: An amplifying device is composed of a variable gain amplifier 10 for amplifying an input voltage Vi and generating an output voltage Vo, a detection circuit 20 for detecting an envelope curve of the output voltage Vo as a digital signal ENV, and an automatic gain control circuit 30 for performing a gain control of the variable gain amplifier 10 based on the digital signal ENV.
