<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a swash plate variable displacement compressor for keeping the angle of inclination of a swash plate at the minimum position (of the minimum capacity) when an air-conditioner mode is not selected, and performing the return from the minimum position with a small power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: The rotation of a driving shaft S on the rotation side is converted into the reciprocal motion of a piston 29 by a swash plate 26, and the discharging capacity of a refrigerant is changed by changing the angle of inclination of the swash plate 26, and an urging means 51 is provided, which urges the swash plate 26 to the minimum capacity position side. A permanent magnet 41 is provided on the rotation side, an electromagnet 45 is provided at the position opposite to the permanent magnet 41 on the fixed side.
