PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a wrong address discharge in a second half address period when what is called an interlaced scan is performed. SOLUTION: An address display separate type plasma display is provided with a period wherein electric charges of a non-illumination cell are adjusted after an address period. A discharge in this period is a discharge between an X electrode or address electrode, and a scan electrode, and has the same polarity with large/small relation of a voltage applied in the address period, but is low in relative voltage, and the discharge is made weaker than an address discharge of an illumination cell.
